Melting Pots & Tanks

The bottom and sidewalls of these pots and tanks have wraparound heating elements to ensure uniform heating and fast heat-up time. All units have a variable temperature range with adjustable thermostat control and "power on" indicator light. Melting pots with a ±25°  F temperature accuracy have a control dial marked from 1 to 10; melting pots with a ±12.6° F temperature accuracy have a control dial marked from the lowest temperature to the highest temperature in its range. Outer housing is Type 304 stainless steel. Operate on 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, single phase (unless noted).
Include a 6-ft. power cord with three-prong plug. Note: Always wear safety apparatus and follow safety precautions while working with melting pots and tanks. Never operate them unattended. Pots and tanks cannot be used for melting salts.

Low-Heat Melting Pots and Tanks—
Melt strippable hot-melt coatings, adhesives, waxes, resins, tar, and asphalt. Pots have fiberglass insulation (3" thick in round pots; 2" thick in rectangular tanks) and a cast aluminum liner for fast, even heat transfer. Round pots include an aluminum cover. Rectangular tanks have a Type 304 stainless steel cover. Do not use these pots and tanks with cerro alloys, acids, or other materials caustic to or incompatible with aluminum.

High-Heat Melting Pots and Tanks—
Melt solder, tin, babbitt, and lead. Inner bowl is cast iron and has 2" of refractory (heat-resistant) insulation. Pots and tanks do not include covers.

HM Wire recommends using the pots listed below due to the fact Polyurethane 155 and 180 solder between 390°C. The information supplied is only an excerpt of all melting pots, please review McMaster Carr's website for further information on melting pots.
